For the last 38 years, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) has been at the forefront in protecting the rights and promoting the well-being of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their dependents, while ensuring the trust fund that it manages.

OWWA was created through different enabling laws but it was on 07 June 1995 when Republic Act No. 8042 (Migrant Workers and Overseas Filipinos Act of 1995) was signed into law which strengthened OWWA’s mandate and services for OFWs and their dependents.

Through the years, OWWA has continuously lived up to its mandate of protecting the welfare and interests of our migrant workers through the creation of various programs and services geared towards the protection of OFWs and development of the families left behind.
